College Course Approval Guidelines for Postgraduate Specialist Courses

Professional postgraduate courses in recognised specialist areas of psychology are evaluated against the APS College Course Approval Guidelines for Postgraduate Specialist Courses. This ensures that students successfully completing an APS-approved specialist postgraduate degree achieve a level of professional competence which meets the needs of clients and the community more generally, and obtain suitable preparation for membership of the relevant College.

The guidelines should be read in conjunction with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) Accreditation Standards Version 10, June 2010.

The process of course approval is undertaken by expert APS College assessors at the same time as APAC accreditation assessment is conducted. Enquiries about the process of college course approval should be directed to the APS Course Approval Secretariat by telephoning (03) 8662 6625.
